If your company is planning to exhibit and/or host a large party or customer dinner at Fresh Summit, now is the time to start planning a site visit to Dallas to scout out restaurants and party venues that fit your needs.
In preparation for your visit to our backyard, we’ve created a cheat sheet to help you navigate your stay!
Convention Center 101:
Nestled in the heart of downtown Dallas, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (650 S. Griffin St.) is one of the largest convention centers in the nation and is a fixture in the Dallas skyline. The KBHCCD boasts over 1 million square feet of exhibit space in addition to a myriad of additional meeting and ballroom areas.
Plan to party:
Is 2020 a big anniversary year for your company? Are you celebrating a milestone and/or a new product? Then it’s the perfect time to celebrate, and we couldn't imagine a better place to party. While you’re in the Big D, scope out some spaces for your festivities. Hotels make for convenient venues to host a party, either in a suite or in a traditional event space. To book a tour, contact hotels directly. As a reminder, PMA offers a form (available closer to the registration open date) to help ensure your preferred space doesn’t conflict with PMA activities.
Need room for larger groups? Some of our favorite places for groups 70+ include the House of Blues, Hickory Street Annex, and sixty five hundred.
The 65,000 sq. ft. House of Blues, one of the largest venues in the area, has multiple spaces that can accommodate anywhere from 20 to 700 guests. In addition to offering in-house catering and mixology, the H.O.B. offers booking services for local bands, keynote speakers, DJs, and headlining artists. Make sure you peek into the VIP Lounge (Foundation Room), one of the go-to places for exclusive events in Dallas!
Hickory Street Annex is the quintessential industrial, loft-like space in Dallas, and serves as an ideal backdrop for a custom event. The HSA, a hidden gem next to downtown Dallas, can accommodate up to 250 guests in its wall-to-wall window event space.
While sixty five hundred is a little removed from the downtown area, it’s worth the drive! It is one of Dallas’ premier blank-slate, open-concept venues, and it offers the freedom to create your own ideal event environment. The 15,500 sq. ft. event space can accommodate parties ranging in size from 200 to 1,000 people, providing enough versatility to configure your space exactly as you'd like.
Where to stay:
The Omni Dallas Hotel (555 S. Lamar St.) is closest to the action, and is connected to the convention center via skybridge. Also worth checking out is The Statler Dallas (1914 Commerce St.), which boasts a recent renovation, brand new restaurants, and retro-forward decor. If you’re looking for something a bit less conventional, we recommend Hotel Zaza (2332 Leonard Street). Located in the trendy Uptown neighborhood, it is home to The Dragonfly bar, a local hot spot. Check out our top five places to stay in Dallas to see a few more recommendations!
Where to eat:
For a midday bite, head to Commissary (1217 Main St.), the trendy downtown bodega that serves grab ‘n go items made from homemade bread and in-house cured meat. Wanting an authentic Dallas meal? Order some queso and carne asada like a local at Miriam Cocina Latina (adjacent to Klyde Warren Park, at 2015 Woodall Rodgers). Insider tip? After a meal at Miriam’s, take a stroll over to Savor in the park to enjoy a cocktail with a view!
