Can Your Packaging Make an Impact on Fresh Produce Sales?

2014 WinnersIncreasingly we are seeing an effort to impact fresh produce demand and consumption by providing more flavorful varieties, stronger consumer communication touchpoints, solutions for busy, on-the-go home cooks…the list goes on. But one particular effort that we want to underscore is how you are using your packaging to positively impact fresh produce sales.

It’s been said many times that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but we know that humans instinctively do just that – right or wrong, we draw conclusions about the inside of a package from the outside presentation and produce packaging is no different.  Lucky for fresh produce, we have the opportunity to snag consumers’ attention with great marketing design and messaging, earth-friendly materials, convenience attributes, strong food safety attributes and packaging construction that protects the product from damage.

For those of you who are already maximizing these opportunities and doing an outstanding job of utilizing packaging to capture customer attention, drive sales and differentiate products from the competition, we urge you to enter your packaging into PMA Impact Award: Excellence in Packaging.  Winners of this global program will be recognized in front of more than 20,000 attendees at Fresh Summit this October in Atlanta, GA.

The submission process is three easy steps:

  • Complete the digital entry form.
  • Print and complete the packaging shipping form.
  • Ship a sample of your packaging entry to the address provided on the Award webpage (with the Packaging Shipping Form) within 3 business days.

The submission deadline is August 31, 2015.

What packaging innovations will you be entering?
