The spring months come with ideal weather, fresh blooms and a plethora of holidays that we like to celebrate as fresh produce marketers. We’re here to help you prepare your social media content for the season and celebrate some relevant days in the coming months.

March

Not only does March brings us St. Patrick’s Day festivities and March Madness, but this month also comes with an overwhelming theme of green- and as produce marketers we’re ok with that! Take note and prepare your recipes because March is also National Celery Month, and you can celebrate National Artichoke Hearts Day on the 16th, National Agriculture Day on the 21st and National Spinach Day on the 26th. So, while you’re planning your green St. Paddy’s Day outfit, you can start planning photos and recipes to post on some other green holidays as well.

April

Don’t miss the opportunity to tease your audience with a joke (or even a little #fakenews) for April Fools’ Day, because who doesn’t love a brand that can have a little fun? National “Love Your Produce Manager Day” on April 2nd is a great way to encourage your audience to visit the produce aisle and look (or ask) for your products. Easter falls on April 16th this year, so sharing Lent-friendly recipes on Twitter with hashtag #Lent during the beginning of the month is something to consider. Even if you aren’t a garlic grower, tap into National Garlic Day on the 19th with your favorite garlic-enhanced recipe featuring your products! Earth day on the 22nd is essential for produce brands to take note of. Take advantage and share your sustainability story– here’s a few examples of fresh produce brands that have done this well.

May

The month of May is chock-full of big holiday gatherings as well as fresh produce national holidays. May brings us Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, which are really fun holidays for food brands that want to share relevant recipes and ideas. For example, if you’re a lime or avocado grower, don’t miss out on Cinco de Mayo! And if you have great brunch recipes or your products go well on a grill (hello peppers and onions!), Mother’s Day and Memorial Day are where it’s at. I don’t know about you, but I know as produce marketers we’re also looking forward to celebrating National Asparagus Month, National Salad Month and National Strawberry Month the entire month of May – all easy holidays to capitalize on.
