Why We Used LinkedIn to Recruit New Talent

wearehiring_post.pngOver the years, DMA Solutions has taken various routes to recruit bright and passionate people to join our company and work to increase the demand of fresh fruits and vegetables.  We’ve had great success utilizing the resources provided by The Center for Growing Talent by PMA and most recently, have fostered new talent through the Aggies for Fresh campaign along with many others.

Recruitment is not for the faint of heart and as our company’s lead recruiter, let me just say that over the last six weeks, I have been overjoyed with the recruitment tool offered by the world’s largest professional network, LinkedIn.

Here are reasons why we decided to use LinkedIn to help us locate our newest crop of fresh produce marketers:

  1. Affordability

We have utilized recruitment companies in the past that charged a significant fee when we hired talent that they sourced on our behalf.  With LinkedIn we spent about $500 in custom created job postings that helped us target the right people for the job saving us tens of thousands of dollars in the end.

  1. Reach

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network.  As stated on the LinkedIn website, we liked having the opportunity to conduct searches using keywords to help us hone in on the right talent.

  1. Targeting

Using the job posting tool, we were able to create a job description and identify the ideal qualities that we were looking for in a new team member.  As a result, LinkedIn used our input to target our job posting to the right people.

  1. Segmenting

We couldn’t have lived without the handy segmenting tool that LinkedIn provides to help recruiters organize candidates when the applications start to funnel in.

  1. Analytics

As an analytics centric company, it is important for us to be able to see a dashboard and understand the status of our recruitment efforts with the click of a mouse. We enjoyed the easy-to-view, easy-to-navigate dashboard giving us a high level view of the number of views and applicants for our job postings.

With three new employees starting in less than two weeks, we are sold on the recruitment tool offered by this ever growing social media network.  Have you used LinkedIn to recruit for your business? What are some hurdles you face when you begin the hunt for new talent?
