6 Easy Ways to Brush Up Your LinkedIn Company Profile

LinkedIn has become an integral part of social marketing and a great way to showcase your company. With talented young students researching potential employers and seasoned professionals sharing valuable content through discussions and status updates, this space is one where you’ll want to put your best foot forward. Plus, there are over 1 million groups on this social site, so there’s a community for just about everyone. No wonder LinkedIn has amped up their offerings with new features to help you and your company shine! So, dress to impress (your profile, that is) with these 6 simple updates.

1. Showcase your company with a cover image.

Yep, LinkedIn has jumped on the cover image bandwagon just like Facebook and Twitter. On the HOME tab of your company profile, make a powerful first impression by uploading an image (646×220) that showcases the personality of your employees or showcases your most desired message(s).

2. Make a status update.

Maybe you just posted a job opening or one of your rockstar employees won an award … or, maybe you just released a new offer! Tell your LinkedIn network about it and drive engagement by posting a company update. You have the ability to add a link and specify whether all of your followers will see it or you can target a special audience based on company size, industry, function, seniority and geography.

3. Add a company description and specialties.

After visitors check out your brand spankin new cover photo and view your status updates, they’ll get to the bottom of your Overview page. Here, you’ll be able to provide your company elevator speech by giving a short description and listing specialties. Don’t be afraid to get real and show a little personality!

4. Drive traffic with linkable images.

Under the SERVICES tab, companies now have the ability to upload not one, but three linkable images (640×220 pixels). Drive traffic to your website, social network profile or special offer by uploading an image and corresponding URL.

Promote individual products or services by adding them to the products and services section of your profile. Under Admin Tools, select “Add product or service” from the drop down menu and follow LinkedIn’s step-by-step guide. For each product or service, be sure to add the following:

  • thumbnail image (100×80 pixels)
  • description
  • a list of key features
  • URL to more information

On the right side of your profile, you will see a prompt to upload a YouTube video. Add a clip that provides a testimonial about one of your products or services, or use this real estate to further humanize your brand with a candid company video.
