The holidays traditionally inspire philanthropic giving in many of us. From dropping change into the red buckets outside superstores to shopping for “Angels” from a local Angel Tree, there’s a lot of good will going on this time of year. In this spirit, we at DMA would like to encourage our friends, readers and colleagues to include a FRESH cause with a long-lasting impact in their charitable contributions.
Let’s Move Salad Bars To Schools makes it easy for each of us to give this gift. This initiative has already donated 1,035 salad bars to schools across the US, including 33 in New Orleans alone in conjunction with last year’s United Fresh event. And, as in The Big Easy, there is an effort in full swing led by the Lone Star Salad Bars Task Force to raise 100 salad bar donations for Texas schools by United Fresh in Dallas in 2012. Whether your business is located in Texas or you do business in this vast state, your contribution matters! With 15 salad bars already donated by produce companies across Texas, our industry has a significant opportunity to leave a positive impact on the cities where we meet. We’re passionate about this campaign and are contributors ourselves. Other companies who have already given include:

With the goal of inspiring additional donations, DMA is excited to offer incentives to those who give. Through January 31, 2012, we are offering five hours of marketing services from DMA (over $600 value!) to each of the first 10 companies who donate the $2500 that will provide at least one salad bar to a fortunate school. The first 10 contributors can utilize our creative think tank to brainstorm strategy, evaluate existing assets, review copy, assess social media presence, and more. Individuals are eligible, too! The DMA Team is a great resource for baby-sitting, event entertainment, school projects, music trivia and scrapbooking.
We’re excited about the holidays, the upcoming new year and a growing swell of support for Let’s Move Salad Bars To Schools.
