Dads and granddads have provided lots of inspiration for The Core authors over the years and no doubt for our readers, as well. And it makes sense, too, since for many of us, our dads and their dads are synonymous with life lessons.

In honor of the upcoming Father’s Day holiday, we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to our fathers and father-figures and give you a way to do the same. Below is a downloadable and printable design for your dads. Use it as a card or a table/desktop decoration. Customize it with your own pics or include a personalized message and show those dads out there how much we cherish them.

And, to reinforce that our paternal appreciation spreads well beyond the one day a year designated as Father’s Day, we’ve also used the printable below as a color inspiration for The Core. Enjoy the hues that are coloring our “Dad Dots” over the next several weeks!

Interns have been a mainstay at DMA for the last 6 years, but this is the first summer we have brought on not one, not two, but three fabulous students to join us as we work to increase the consumption of fresh produce. I couldn’t be more floored by how lucky we are to have this crop of talent working here for the summer!

At DMA Solutions, we’re in the business of sharing fresh produce success stories each and every day. And we are typically most drawn to and especially excited to spread the fresh produce good news that doesn’t regularly appear on our radars. Yes, when we as consumers, Internet browsers and blog subscribers learn about a fresh produce success story that does not involve a grower or person from within our industry, we’re intrigued and want to learn and share.

Recently we learned about Katie’s Krops an inspirational cause (and legit 501(c)(3) organization) led by a fourteen year old girl on a mission to fight hunger one vegetable garden at a time. When Katie was in third grade, she planted a seedling that she received from a program by Bonnie Plants in 2008. With tender loving care, Katie nurtured her seedling into a forty pound head of cabbage!

If you don’t have a copy of Sheryl Sandberg’s new book titled, “Lean In”, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy before your next cup of coffee on the patio, book club or flight. Sheryl is an amazing writer (and oh, by the way, is the COO of a little company called Facebook) and her words are moving, compelling and funny. From the beginning of the book, Sheryl convinces you that she is as real as she is convicted to her passion to encourage women to “lean in” and live life doing what it is that you truly were meant to and want to do, without fear and without boundaries.
We feel strongly that fresh produce marketing is an area on which we should cooperate, not compete, in order to raise fresh produce consumption and, as a result, benefit us all. Therefore, we’re constantly monitoring the airwaves and World Wide Web for examples of excellent FRESH messaging that we regularly highlight on The Core. And even though we’re used to experiencing terrific, FRESH-focused content, the example below left us especially jazzed.

We believe that “Brand” = Values + The People Who Support & Contribute To Them + What People Think About You. Marci will talk more about how to be a trusted brand in tomorrow’s post, but today we want to focus on the people part. When reviewing our own website and blog analytics we discovered that our Team and Authors pages are regularly two of the most visited pages on their respective sites, which is excellent news since your team page is ground zero for humanizing your brand.

This discovery indicates that visitors want to learn more about the individuals who support and contribute to your company values. They want to get to know you, in addition to knowing your products and services.
