5 New Years Resolutions for Social Media

Oh yes…it’s that time of year. The time when most of us set resolutions that end up falling through after the first or second month of the year. But, don’t worry! When it comes to your brands’ social media platforms, we’ve already jotted down an easy list that will set you up for success in 2023. Here are our social media recommendations for fresh food marketers to consider when planning for the new year.

5 Social Media Resolutions For 2023

1.  Post More Videos

If you’re not already sharing Reels, TikToks, or other short-form videos on social media, this should be at the top of your to-do list in the new year! Videos are still the most popular and best-performing type of content out there. And the great news is, you don’t need to create “perfect” videos because imperfect videos are all the rage. This is a great way to show consumers how they can use your products in their everyday life. Check out this short-form video that we created for Ocean Mist Farms below.  These are affordable and so nimble!

2. Start Using Canva

If you don’t have a graphic designer on hand, Canva will be your best friend! This easy-to-use platform allows you to create beautifully designed assets to share on social media. Pro tip: our new 2023 calendars are a free resource that can help you plan and create designed content around important holidays and events. The example image below is from the Self Smarter Podcast.  We use Canva all of the time to promote what Dan’l and Megan are talking about every week!

3. Host Flash Promotions

At DMA, we’ve learned the number one way to increase community growth on social media is through flash promotions! If that term is unfamiliar to you, all this entails is a simple giveaway where consumers like and follow your brand in exchange for a chance to win the prize. We’ve seen incredible results (I’m talking around 400 new followers) for just a small, $25 gift card. Feel free to give us a call to talk through more strategies when it comes to flash promotions!

4. Use Evergreen Content

Remember, you don’t always need to reinvent the wheel. We’re big fans of stretching content further. Take a look at your previous posts and make note of the best performers. It’s not a bad idea to utilize those and take the opportunity to reshare them again on your platforms! If we know your audience reacts and engages with these posts, then why not maximize your results? See below for an example from California Giant – this post continues to excite and delight consumers through the years.
