Four Can’t Miss Opportunities During The Washington Conference

CoreBanner_WashingtonConference.pngAhhhhh, Washington DC in the fall of a presidential election year – there’s nothing quite like it!  For political junkies like me, the city’s powerful, frenzied energy is almost intoxicating.  Needless to say, we’re looking forward to The Washington Conference – United Fresh Produce Association’s (UFPA) policy-focused event, September 12-14, 2016.  Even more than re-enacting some of our favorite scenes from House of Cards, the DMA team is most excited about these available opportunities:

  • Rising Leaders Program – Our industry is committed to recruiting and developing young talent as evidenced by organizations like PMA’s Center for Growing Talent and programs like Aggies for Fresh. Although I may no longer be considered “rising” (and certainly not “young”), I highly recommend this program to those who do qualify.  The UFPA adds a very important layer to educating up-and-coming produce professionals by emphasizing the roles that policy and government play in seemingly every aspect of our work.
  • Educational Session: Fighting for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables on Capitol Hill – Seems silly that we have to fight for this, but we must present a united front to ensure our nation’s youth have access to fresh fruits and vegetables. I’m excited to hear what the panelists and my friend and role model, Dr. Lorelei DiSogra, have to share about this incredibly important topic.
  • United FreshPAC Presidential Election Party – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump impersonators… enough said. For tickets and more information, please email Angela Tiwari at atiwari@unitedfresh.org.
  • March on Capitol Hill – I’ll never forget my first march (which may have included an “illegal” just-for-senators elevator ride) and the DMA team looks forward to joining our friends and fresh produce family to create another memory on the steps of the Capitol in September!

Who’s joining us in DC?  We’d love to learn more about you, your business and marketing goals. See you there!
