Resolve To Make a Big Difference

resolve

I’m a word nerd. And this time of year, as I’ve been bombarded with resolution talk, I got to thinking about the word “resolve” and I realized that I LOVE both versions of the word – the verb and the noun (big time nerd).

Resolve (v.) – to reach a firm decision about (I resolve to eat fewer French fries)
Resolve (n.) – marked by firm determination (McDonald’s resolve to entice me with French fries is unwavering.)

I also realized that as the DMA Team sat around our conference table at the end of 2011, we were exhibiting great usage of both versions of the word.

You see, each of us has one or two (or twelve) causes that are important to us. And we all give time, money and energy to them every year. For 2012, however, DMA has resolved to support each team member’s personal cause. And DMA’s resolve to make a greater philanthropic difference this year will exponentially increase the efforts provided to each of our favorite charities since there will be more participation and a financial commitment by the company.

First up is a cause very near and dear to me and, of course, there’s a fitness component to it! The Big D Climb benefits the North Texas Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and is centered around a climb to the top of Fountain Place in downtown Dallas. 52 flights and 1,040 steps to support research for and awareness of blood cancers.

DMA is sponsoring a team of 10 and we’d love for you to get involved! Here are several ways you can help us help the LLS:
Sponsor one of our climbers!
Attend the climb on January 28 and cheer us on!
• JOIN our team! We’ve got 2 slots left and encourage any local (or person willing to travel to Big D) to test his/her resolve and make the vertical trek with us. Email bnemecek@dma-solutions.com to say YES!
We’re excited about The Big D Climb and helping the LLS. Stay tuned for pics and results (both times and money raised) from the event. And try out some resolve – noun or verb – for yourself! Might we suggest a Salad Bar donation?
