Blogs We Love: CopyBlogger

iStock-504606248-950549-edited.jpgEarlier this year, we posted about 5 blogs that all fresh produce marketers should follow in 2017. Now we’d like to focus on each of these blogs and why we love them while pointing you to some of the helpful content we’ve discovered! To start, I want to share with you one of my favorite blogs, CopyBlogger.

Known as the “Godfather of content,” CopyBlogger helps marketers increase their digital presence through the production of relevant content your audience cares about. If you love writing or want to improve your company’s email performance, blog posts and website copy in 2017, this blog will be of interest to you. They’ve been around for 10 years, so their knowledge is something to take advantage of. Brian Clark, founder of CopyBlogger, still contributes to posts today.

Here are some of the things we’ve learned from reading CopyBlogger:

What Content Marketing is and Why it’s Important

We know that producing enough content on a regular basis is a pain point for many fresh produce marketers. If this applies to you, CopyBlogger is a great resource to help you on your content planning journey. While there’s no denying that creating and sharing valuable content to attract and convert prospects into customers or evangelists for your brand takes time, this blog can at least guide you on strategy and provide ideas to get started.

Lists Work

CopyBlogger helped us to immensely improve our own writing and format for The Core Blog. We learned that content in the form of a list almost always works because it makes a specific promise to the ready on what they are going to get. It’s also easier to skim for those of you who are limited on time – which we know is the bulk of our fresh produce marketer audience!

Great Copy Fulfills Promises

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve taken away from CopyBlogger over the years is the importance of magnetic headlines that clearly communicate a promise to the reader. I love how CopyBlogger explains this way of thinking about your content: “Your headline is a promise to readers. Its job is to clearly communicate the benefit you’ll deliver to the reader in exchange for their valuable time.” From there, it’s explained that this is why you should write your headlines first and allow your copy to fulfill the promise you made.

Even a 100-Character Tweet Can Have Content Value

Those of you who have invested a great deal into social media marketing know this to be true, but for many, social media is still an everyday struggle. CopyBlogger provides valuable lessons in writing content for social media as well, explaining that you should use those 100 characters to say something that makes readers’ lives better while being both useful and entertaining. We can get onboard with that!

How to Become an “Authority” Online

Not only is becoming a “thought-leader” an effective strategy for B2B marketers looking to attract new customers, but it is also proving to be effective for growers trying to reach and attract people to their brand. CopyBlogger addresses using content and writing to set yourself as the “expert” in your field or when it comes to your products. So, if you’re a cantaloupe grower who wants to be THE go-to brand online for people searching for cantaloupe information, reading CopyBlogger will help you understand the deeper strategies to get you there.

How to Craft Better Copy

Finally, one of the best things about CopyBlogger is the plethora of copywriting 101 information available to those of us who just want to become better writers. At DMA Solutions, writing is a huge part of what we do and we are always looking for ways to learn how to improve our work. This should hold true for any marketing professional, no matter the industry.

So, have we won you over to the value of this resource yet? If you know you need content marketing for your company, but you aren’t sure how to dedicate the time to truly be effective, we would love to help.
